The Way

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me."

SUNSHINE!

It is sunny and above freezing today in Indiana! Woo Hoo! I want to soak up as much light as possible because gray clouds will soon roll in with more sleet and rain in the forecast.

I have had a little time on my hands with the school break. Time to re-read some of my favorite Bible passages and books, and time to catch more of my friends' blogs.

I can be having such a struggle with worry, and one of you posts something that lifts my spirits every time! I do appreciate each and every one of you.

I found this cute children's poem to put a smile on your face.

Singing Time

I wake in the morning early
And always the very first thing
I poke out my head
And I get up in bed
And I sing and I sing and I sing!

Rose Fyleman

God bless you.

You Shine

Why should I feel mad,
When You made the heavens?
Why should I be afraid,
When You put the stars in place?
Why should I lose heart,
When I know how great you are?
Why should I give up,
When Your plans are full of love?

In this world we will have trouble,
But You have overcome the world!
You Shine,
Brighter than the brightest star!
Your Love,
Purer than the purest heart!
You Shine,
Filling us with courage and strength
To follow You!

God Brought the World to Me

When I was a child, I decided that when I grew up, I wanted to travel the world. At that time I lived in a very small town and had never met anyone from another country or even heard a different language spoken.

This past week, as I called the role in an elementary classroom in America's heartland, and saw names from Asia, Europe, (the former Soviet Union), Mexico, and the Pacific Islands, I realized that God has brought the world to me. In that school alone, over twenty languages are spoken.

What an opportunity to learn from others and to show God's love every day. Wherever we are, we can only love people one at a time - the ones God places in our path.

God Notices

One of the last times my son Caleb was able to go to church, we arrived early. The choir and orchestra were practicing the special music. Instead of sliding in the back pew as usual, I decided to sit right up on the front row so Caleb could see the instruments and all the colors. Caleb LOVED church and worship music!

That night, though his heart was weak and his hands and lips were blue, he was full of joy! He bounced and clapped and "sang" for all he was worth. I sat watching him with glistening eyes, wanting to record that scene in my mind forever.

I looked around to see if anyone else marveled at this miracle, but no one looked his way.

As that memory flashed across my mind this Christmas, fifteen years since Caleb went to be with the Lord, I heard God whisper, "I noticed."

"One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple."
Psalm 27:4 NASB

Everlasting Love

To my children and grandchildren:

When did I start to love you? From the moment I knew you were on the way! When I saw your bald head and sleepy grin, when you had no teeth and drank only milk, when you had to depend on others for everything you needed, I loved you even then.

My love for you is not based on what you can do. I love you because you are you.

God is that way with us. He places a crown of goodness on our heads the moment we reach out to believe in Him. He does not wait until we understand the whole Bible or until we can do a great job at helping other people. He accepts us because we belong to Him.

God tells us in the Bible:
"I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with loving-kindness."
Jeremiah 31:3

Big Snow!

We had our first snow this weekend in central Indiana - big fluffy snow that frosts the evergreens and makes a decent snowman!

My friend's 5-year-old grandson called her to tell her about playing in the snow.

"How much snow did you get there?" she asked.

Carefully thinking it over, he replied, "I'd say several pounds!"
